Former Professor of Communication Studies and Pacific Journalism, Founding Director of the Pacific Media Centre
Professor David Robie is a former Professor of Communication Studies and Pacific Journalism, and founding Director of the Pacific Media Centre at Auckland University of Technology.
He retired at AUT in 2020 and is now Editor of Asia Pacific Report. For more than two decades he has focused on covering the Asia-Pacific region. He has reported on post-colonial coups, indigenous struggles for independence and environmental and developmental issues. In 2015, he was presented with the AMIC Asian Communication Award in Dubai and in 2017 was on the Indonesian government-funded World Class Professor (WCP) programme with Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta.
Professor Robie is editor of the high profile independent Asia Pacific Report with industry partner ForeignPolicy.nz.
