Richard Sharpe, a Wellington-based earthquake engineer, attended the 9th Asian Conference on Earthquake Engineering in Kathmandu in May. A Distinguished Fellow of Engineering New Zealand and a life member of the New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering, Sharpe reflects on the conference and his 35-year association with Nepal’s earthquake engineering community. Sharpe was supported to travel to Nepal through a Foundation Media Travel Grant.
