Dr Negar Partow is a senior lecturer in Security Studies in the Centre for Defence and Security Studies at Massey University, Wellington. She received her Masters’ degrees from Iran and New Zealand and completed her PhD at Victoria University of Wellington. Negar has been a university lecturer in NZ since 2002.

Her areas of expertise are International Security, Middle East and Southeast Asia, Gender Studies and body politics, human security and human rights, Islam and politics, identity politics and diversity, ethics, posthumanism and multiculturalism.

Negar is a regular media commentator and an enthusiastic human rights activist. Negar is involved with various civil society groups and has been working on diverse international security topics including social inclusion and diversity.
