Koji Kobayashi is an adjunct senior lecturer in the Department of Tourism, Sport and Society at Lincoln University, New Zealand. In 2020 he also started working with the Otaru University of Commerce as an Associate Professor.

His research interests include globalisation, cultural production, strategic management and public policy as they relate to sport and recreation. He is also involved in research projects with respect to sport and society in Asia.

Koji's work appeared in journals such as Sociology of Sport Journal, International Review for the Sociology of Sport, Sport in Society, Managing Sport and Leisure, Leisure Studies, Consumption Markets and Culture and International Journal of Cultural Studies.

He also published a book chapter on the cultural economy of glocalisation and self-Orientalisation in Global Culture: Consciousness and Connectivity edited by Roland Robertson and Didem Buhari-Gulmez (2016).
