Khairiah Rahman is Senior Lecturer at the School of Communication Studies where she lectures in intercultural communication and public relations. She is National Director (New Zealand) and Secretary for Media Education for the Asian Congress for Media and Communication. She is also on the advisory board of the Pacific Media Centre at AUT University. Khairiah has written articles, book chapters and presented on transnational identities, crisis miscommunication, intercultural trust relationships, cultural representations and stereotypes, Islamic perspective of dialogue and persuasion and the impact of media on culture. Her PhD research is on Islam and communication. Khairiah has taught undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as industry practitioners. She has served as an educational ambassador for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ initiative in Singapore training government officials of under-developed countries in South East Asia.
