Doug Hill
Doug Hill is an Associate Professor in Development Studies with the School of Geography at the University of Otago. His areas of expertise include Indian politics, environmental management in South Asia, water resource issues, development policies, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan.
The majority of his teaching and research is concerned with India. His publications have included work on rural livelihoods and poverty alleviation, environmental management and participatory governance, urban change and the growth of the middle classes, labour in the global system, and the politics of economic reform and federalism in India.
He serves on the executive committee of the South Asian Studies Association of Australia and the steering committee of the New Zealand/Aotearoa International Development Studies Network.
