Andrew Barrie
Andrew Barrie's expertise is on Japanese architecture. He is is a New Zealand-born architectural critic and designer formerly based in Tokyo.
After completing doctoral studies in Japan, Andrew spent several years working as a project architect in the office of Toyo Ito, one of Japan’s most innovative and influential architects. On returning to New Zealand, he worked at Cheshire Architects in Auckland. He is a regular contributor to architecture and design journals. He has authored books on the work of Toyo Ito and Shigeru Ban.
Andrew’s own design work has won numerous awards in both New Zealand and Japan, and has been exhibited in both countries.
