PhD in International Development

Dr Sharon Bell’s expertise includes development in conflict-affected contexts, health system development, the New Zealand Aid Programme, and the Sustainable Development Goals. She has a special interest in Myanmar and her PhD research examined the partnership between one of Myanmar’s ethnic non-state armed groups and an international non-governmental organisation (INGO) for health workforce training in Shan State, Myanmar. Sharon is the research manager for The Workshop, a not-for-profit research and communications organisation.

Sharon has been involved in the international development sector for over 25 years in roles including practitioner, researcher, academic, and governance. She serves as an advisor to an INGO that provides health workforce training in Karen State, Myanmar.
