Senior Lecturer in Journalism, La Trobe University
Born in Jakarta and raised in Melbourne, Dr Nasya Bahfen is a former journalist, now an academic, who has worked in Australia, Singapore and New York. Before joining academia she worked as a reporter and producer with the ABC and SBS. These days she manages the postgraduate journalism programme at La Trobe University’s Department of Media and Communication. She is also well-known for her work in sport and has been a community ambassador with the AFL Multicultural Programme.
Dr Bahfen's academic research covers issues around sport, identity and media. She is currently researching digital journalism in Indonesia in the lead-up to the 2019 elections.
